Brochures

Brochures and flyers are important media for presenting our products to the outside world. When dealing with customers, suppliers, employees, the press, or the authorities, brochures play a major role in communicating a positive image. Using uniform design elements in all media strengthens our corporate identity and increases the recognizability of our company. The design of a brochure must do justice to the topic by aiming both to attract the target group’s attention and to convey MTU’s products and messages.

In this chapter, we present the most important design elements that you can use flexibly when putting together your media. Whenever you create media, it is important to maintain the highest quality standards.

All printed matter is coated with a silk matt dispersion varnish. FOGRA 39L is used as the color profile.

There is a fixed type area and a fixed line grid that serve as an organizing principle invisible to the viewer. The unit of measurement used in the analog application is millimeters.

For handy formats such as DIN A4, the edges are defined as 24 mm on the outside, 12 mm on the inside and top, and 22.5 mm on the bottom.
A baseline grid of 6 pt was defined for all pages. The type area is divided into 12 columns, with a fixed column spacing (gutter) of 12 pt (2x6 pt, 4.233 mm).
All design elements such as fonts and images are aligned with both the column grid (horizontal) and the baseline grid (vertical).

To facilitate subsequent design work, the grid was deliberately kept clear, modular, and not too complex. This delivers a consistent, flexible, and visually organized design across all pages and formats.

To ensure a uniform design, digital InDesign templates can be used. The MTU logo is included in the templates; its size and proportions must not be changed.

Brochures make use of content- and product-oriented images; purely person-oriented images should be avoided.
