Signage

Signage

The signs we use to indicate our locations and buildings are a very visible means of confirming and promoting our identity. They communicate strong messages about our standing and prestige as a company and reflect our customer focus and commitment to quality.

Building signs

Large wall-mounted identification signs are used on the main buildings of our principal facilities.

This type of identification sign uses only our symbol and brand name. The business descriptor does not appear. This is an exceptional usage of the logo and confined exclusively to this type of MTU sign.

For large building signs on a main facility, the overall height of the identity elements could be as tall as three meters.

Colors and technical production information

The face and the side returns of the identity elements are made of aluminum with the back side being a translucent blue acrylic. The faces of the identity elements do not light up and are painted MTU dark blue. The side returns also do not light up and are painted MTU metallic gray (gloss finish). Internal illumination, however, emits light through the back sides of the identity elements, and because support brackets lift the whole arrangement away from the building itself, the emitted light casts a blue halo around the edge of the identity elements and also reflects back on to the surface of the building.

Stelae

Their modern streamlined character is consistent with the status of MTU as a future-oriented, efficient, high-tech company.

Colors and technical production information

The logo should always appear in the preferred MTU colors: MTU dark blue and MTU blue gray on a white background.

The face of the sign panel is laser cut such that the identity elements are left as apertures through which the sandwich of two layers of acrylic is pushed in from the inside. The identity elements therefore project beyond the surface of the sign panel in low relief. When this arrangement is internally illuminated, light is emitted through the edge of the clear acrylic, creating a halo effect around the edge of the identity elements.

Stelae—large

Large free-standing signs are positioned at or near the entrances to MTU premises.

The logo should always appear in the position indicated in the drawings – in the second, larger panel area from the top of the stelae.

Stelae—small

Small free-standing signs are positioned at or near the entrances to MTU premises. The logo should always appear in the position indicated in the drawings – in the upper panel area of the stelae.

Directional signs

The examples show best practice for MTU directional signs. Please pay attention to the way in which information is structured and how text and arrows are combined neatly and efficiently. This ensures that the sign is clearly legible and helpful.

Directional signs groups

Both floor and wall-mounted signs may be used to give directions. Whether or not the logo is used on such signs will depend on the context or location of they are to be used.
